Cosmetic Dentistry
Most people would like to change something about the way they look. What is commonly underestimated is how much your smile can impact on your general appearance. With even minor changes there can often be a dramatic improvement in the appearance of an individual's smile. This can enhance a person's general appearance and restore a great deal of confidence.Modern advances in dentistry have seen the development of a variety of dental procedures that may be used to make teeth and smiles more attractive:
Tooth Whitening
Teeth are often stained from smoking, food, drink (coffee, tea, or red wine), or poor oral hygiene. This is the most common cause of an unattractive smile. Teeth whitening aims to restore the whiteness to natural tooth enamel to give you a more youthful smile.
It is a very successful and easy way of eliminating most external and some internal stains from your teeth, without causing any damage. This can be achieved with either an in-office procedure done by your dentist, or by using a custom made home system While in-office whitening is considered to be much quicker and more effective, many appreciate at-home whitening for its ease of use and lower cost.
Bonding
An alternative to veneers, bonding can be used as a restorative procedure for teeth that are chipped, cracked, discoloured, or misarranged.
A dental composite material that mimics tooth structure is applied to the surface of a tooth, where it is then sculpted into shape, contoured, and polished making the invisible. Bonding often serves as an inexpensive and effective restoration for small chips and cracks in the teeth. Minor adjustments in the shape and colour of a tooth can also be obtained.
Veneers
Dental veneers are custom-designed shells of tooth-like ceramic material that can cover more severe cases of worn tooth enamel, uneven tooth alignment, or spacing and chips or cracks. They create a bright, white smile with beautifully aligned, shapely teeth. Advancements in their translucent ceramic quality also provide a more natural look than what’s been available in the past. Because dental veneers are so thin, they might require little-to-no tooth reshaping when bonded onto the tooth making it a more conservative option to full crowns.
Regardless of what causes unattractive teeth, dental veneers are a great option in the treatment of most cosmetic dental issues.
